What is a Micro Filter?

When Broadband is enabled on your telephone line, all of your telephone sockets can transmit a Broadband signal. This signal can interfere with voice and fax calls, making the line sound crackly.

Filters remove the crackle and let you make normal voice and fax calls at the same time you're online with your Broadband connection.

If you have more than one telephone socket attached to the telephone line you intend to use for Broadband, you will need to order a micro filter for each socket. Phone extension cables can cause problems and we do not advise their use with a micro filter.

Can I connect more than one computer to the Internet with Broadband?

Yes Freezone Internet does not prohibit connection sharing. However although some operating systems such as Windows XP allow multiple users to share a single Internet connection, Freezone Internet does not provide technical assistance for networking your computers. However Business customers are required to use a Business connection that provides a 20:1 contention ratio suitable for small networks and offers a considerable cost saving over a leased line.

Can I install Broadband in any room in the house?

You can connect your Broadband modem to any correctly wired phone sockets in your house using the filters supplied.

What is a Static IP Addresses?

A 'Static' IP Address can be provided as an option with any of the ADSL packages, this means that a computer on your connection will have a permanent address on the internet. The benefits of having a static IP Address over the standard dynamic address (which changes each time you log-on) means that you can for example host a web site (although the limited upload bandwidth makes this unsuitable for anything other than "family" web sites)

How do I know if I can use Broadband on my Line number? There are two methods to check broadband availability on your line.

• You can check the availability of broad band on Freezone website, at this link http://www.freezone.co.uk/broadband/
• You have to contact BT (British Telecom) who deploys the technology in your town for the availability of broadband on your line.

• A direct BT analogue telephone line supporting core security services such as Red Care connected to it.
• PC with Windows 98 or later.
• 10/100 Ethernet network card.
• Freezone will organize the supply and installation of the necessary modem and, if required, a firewall to protect the integrity of your network
